What to do
Tourism and hobbies

Digoine is located at the heart of a very touristic area on the border lines of Drôme, Ardèche, Vaucluse and Gard and offer many attractions without making long distances.

Heritage trip

  • At Bourg Saint Andéol, visit the historical center with its 18 th century old mansions, the Bishop Palace the Mytra temple vestiges and the ancient streets.
  • The Medieval village of Saint Montan (5 km) and the castle of Grignan are land marks but villages of Aiguèze (12km) La Garde Adhémar (5 km), St Paul Trois Châteaux and St Restitut with the troglodyte village of Barry are worthwile a visit.
  • You can also plan a daily trip to the roman theatre of Orange (35km) Avignon (65 km), Uzès (40 km) and the famous "Pont du Gard".

Wine tasting and local food

  • We are at the heart of Côtes du Rhône vintage area, closed to Chateauneuf du Pape and Gigondas and many cellars propose wine tasting. But you should first experience a wine tasting initiation at the Cairanne cooperative cellar or attend a seminar at the Wine university of Suze la Rousse.
  • But you could also taste olive oil at Nyons, truffles at Richerenches where the market attracts gourmet and chefs from December till mid march, chestnut and take the risk to test a lavender ice cream on summer.

Sport and nature

The most popular activity is of course to discover the ardeche river on a canoe. This one day adventure is a must here but you can also explore caves: Aven d'Orgnac, St Marcel Cave and the famous newly discovered Chauvet cave or attend the crocodiles lunch at the crocodile farm.

Outdoor activities are endless: trekking, mountain bike, canyoning, horse riding and quad, windsurf at the lake (3 km), swimming in the ardeche river (10 km), Golf at Clansayes (9 holes)(10km) and la Valdaigne (18 holes).

Culture

On summer time choosing a cultural event is embarrassing among: the festival of hand writing and theatre at Grignan, the lyric art festival of Chorégies d’Orange, country music festival at St Marcel d’Ardèche, blues festival at Bagnols sur Cèze, theatre festival of Avignon...

Of course you can also just rest in the court yard with a good cigar, a glass of wine, listening at a nice jazz tune. Then after making a dive in the swimming pool after sunset you will think before sleeping to the motto of Brilliat Savarin "To welcome a guest is to take care of his happiness for the duration of his stay".
